How It Happened
It was all Fontbonne offensively in the first half owning a 9-1 shot advantage through the first 34 minutes of play. However, despite its chances the Griffins were unable to break the scoreless tie prior to halftime.
In the second half, the Griffins were able to break the tie in the 50th minute. Krystal Kohenskey received a pass up field, she cut towards the box, and blasted her shot into the far-right corner past Jordan Schneider for the 1-0 lead and her fifth goal on the season.
From there, the Griffins continued to try and add onto its lead but the chances were just missing. In the 81st minute, the Griffins were awarded a corner kick. Kohenskey's cross into the box found the head of Libby Bateman and she beat Schneider on the short-side for her second on the season. That was all Fontbonne needed to go on the win and secure its perfect regular season record.
