ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The No. 1 seed Fontbonne University women’s soccer team are headed back to the SLIAC Championship game for the first time since 2017 after earning another shutout win over Greenville, 2-0.

How It Happened
In the first half, Griffins netminder Mary Beers was tested early both the 16th and 17th minutes from Molly McDonnell but she was able to come up with two key saves to keep it a scoreless contest.
The Griffins had its scoring chances as the clock continued to tick down but Grace Gehner came up with two saves, while the other attempts had missed just wide of the net.
Then, at 44:08, a foul was called on the Panthers in the box awarding a penalty-kick for Fontbonne. Krystal Kohenskey stepped up and buried her shot into the top right corner of the net, her sixth on the year, giving Fontbonne a 1-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, the Griffins defense continued doing what they've done all year shutting down opposing offenses as they held the Panthers to just two shots in the second half. It remained a one goal game up until the 87th minute.
A foul was called on Greenville just outside the box again and Fontbonne was awarded a free kick. Kierstyn Weaver netted an absolute perfect shot into the back of the net going off the bottom of the cross bar and in giving Fontbonne a 2-0 lead. That proved to be more than enough for the Griffins securing the victory.

- The Griffins finished with a 17-6 shot advantage.
- Weaver led with six shots and her goal was her fifth on the season.
