Mary Beers Becomes All-Time Leader With Career Shutout No. 22 In Win Over Greenville

GREENVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University women’s soccer team continued its record setting season after a 3-0 win over Greenville. The 12 conference wins are a program record, they stayed unbeaten in SLIAC play for the second straight season, and Mary Beers earned her 22nd career shutout becoming the all-time leader.

GREENVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University women's soccer team continued its record setting season after a 3-0 win over Greenville. The 12 conference wins are a program record, they stayed unbeaten in SLIAC play for the second straight season, and Mary Beers earned her 22^nd career shutout becoming the all-time leader.

Game Breakdown

In the first half, the Griffins looked as if they took a 1-0 lead in the 12^th minute, but its goal was waved off due to offsides. Both teams totaled four shots, though neither could break the tie and it remained a 0-0 contest at the break.

The second half belonged to Fontbonne. In the 55^th minute, the Griffins got on the board when Kierstyn Weaver's free kick attempt was saved by Grace Gehner, however, Gehner couldn't control the rebound allowing Caroline Neal to come in and score her 10^th on the season.

In the 63^rd minute, the Griffins struck again with Krystal Kohenskey dribbling the ball up field and her cross into the box found Molly Kovarik who scored her 18^th on the season giving Fontbonne a comfortable 2-0 lead.

Fontbonne put the game away in the 66^th minute when Katie Leeker stole the ball from the Panthers defense, sent a through ball for Kovarik, and the Festus, Mo., native, did the rest tipping her shot past Gehner for her 19^th on the year.

The Griffins remained in control the rest of the way with a 5-0 shot advantage as they cruised to its third straight shutout win.

Fontbonne Leaders

Beers 22^nd career shutout surpasses Tayler Pulvirenti who held the record of 21 since 2016.
Kovarik is now in first in the SLIAC with 19 goals and sits in sixth overall nationally.
Kohenskey's assist was her 10^th giving her 23 in her career. She moved into fourth in career assists surpassing Paige Pfankuch (2012-15).
Neal's goal gives her 33 in career and 82 points placing her fourth all-time at Fontbonne.

The Griffins are the No. 1 seed in the SLIAC Tournament and will host the lowest seed remaining in the SLIAC Semifinals on Thursday. Time is TBA.
