Fontbonne Women's Soccer Suffers 1-0 Loss Against No. 9 Loras In NCAA First Round
DUBUQUE, Iowa.—The Fontbonne University women’s soccer team saw its 2021 run come to a tough end after falling 1-0 against No. 9 ranked Loras in the First Round of the NCAA Tournament.

Game Breakdown
The Duhawks got on the board in the third minute when off a corner kick there was a loose ball in the box and Emily Perhats was there to score giving Loras a 1-0 lead.
After the goal, the Griffins started providing the offensive pressure with Libby Bateman and Alexandria Smith each having scoring chances that went out top.
Fontbonne had another scoring chance in the 44th minute when Krystal Kohenskey received the ball from Molly Kovaik in the box, though her shot was stopped on a diving save from Kyndal Kells.
The Griffins had another opportunity with 21.0 seconds left when Kierstyn Weaver took a shot that was stopped by Kells once more.
In the second half, the Griffins saw continued its offensive push with Kohenskey having a shot that went wide in the 53rd minute. From there, the Duhawks rattled off a 3-0 shot advantage in nine minutes with Mary Beers coming up big stopping each attempt.
Fontbonne had one final chance in the 86th minute, however Kovarik's shot was saved by Kells. Loras was able to fend off the Griffins the final three minutes securing the shutout win.
Fontbonne Leaders
- The Griffins ended with seven shots.
- Kohenskey led with three shots and two going on goal.
- Weaver, Kovarik, Bateman, and Smith had the other attempts.
- Mary Beers made five saves in net.
The Griffins end the 2021 season going 15-3-2 overall and 12-0-2 in SLIAC play.
