Women's Tennis succumbs to Blackburn 6-3

Edmundson earns first collegiate victory as Griffins take three from Blackburn.

St. Louis, Mo. - After falling to St. Louis College of Pharmacy Friday, Fontbonne women's tennis put up a good showing against conference rival Blackburn College on Saturday. The Griffins pulled away with three wins, but fell in their 12th consecutive match of the season.

STLCOP

Hannah Edmundson competed the best on Friday, taking the second set at No. 3-singles 6-0 before losing a tight tie-breaker 10-8. Mariana Rogers and Celeste Herrmann teamed up to narrowly miss out on the win in Herrmann's first competition back on the court. The duo fell 8-6 before STLCOP earned the shutout.

Blackburn

The Griffins put up a good fight in doubles against the Beavers. Rogers and Edmundson ran away at No. 1-doubles with an 8-0 victory, their first win as a pair and Edmundson's first collegiate victory. Herrmann and Megan Camp almost earned the win in the No. 2 spot, but fell 8-6 while Blackburn picked up their second win 8-4 in the final doubles competition.

Rogers and Herrmann defeated their competitors in their singles matchups, each scoring 6-1, 6-1. Herrmann now has two singles wins this season while Rogers recorded her third singles win. Rogers and Edmundson's doubles win was the first of the spring season for Fontbonne.
