Griffins Down Eagles Quickly
St. Louis- Seniors Taryn Ballmann and Abbie Bergtholdt recorded double digit kills in last night's shutout as women's volleyball defeated Robert-Morris Springfield 25-9, 25-14 and 25-11.
Ballmann (O'Fallon, Mo./Fort Zumwalt North) shot down 13 kills and Bergtholdt (Ste. Genevieve, Mo./Valle Catholic) slammed down 12 kills. Bergtholdt's .476 kill percentage was the highest of the top three attackers.
The fast-pace was no match for the Eagles who are now 1-19 on the season. The Griffins held the Eagles to a negative attacking percentage, easing their way to a victory.
The Griffin defense was maintained by the entire team, with two student-athletes managing eight digs apiece (Maddie Stadler and Krista Beyer).
Fontbonne's record is now 8-12 on the season and 5-6 in SLIAC play. The Griffins have a tough weekend ahead as they travel to Louisville, Ky. this weekend. Friday Fontbonne takes on Spalding, and on Saturday the Griffins take on Eureka and Greenville.
Fontbonne's next home game is on Saturday, November 2nd. The Griffins host a quint match, playing Spalding at 10am and Iowa Wesleyan at noon.
