Griffins sweep Rhodes Invitational
St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne women's volleyball went 3-0 in Memphis this weekend at the Rhodes College Invitational. The Griffins' final win came against the host team 25-22, 26-24 and 25-18, knocking Rhodes' overall record to 4-3. The Griffins win their third straight game with a 3-5 overall record. During the tournament, Rhodes went 2-1, Lyon 1-2 and Centenary 0-3.
Emily Merick tallied a .333 hitting percentage as the Griffins won their final game of the weekend. Merick tallied 13 kills and only 3 errors on 30 attempts. Aiding the team in overall attacks was setter Lynsey Wehrenberg who totaled 22 assists. Backing up the front line was Maddie Stadler with 13 digs and Kersten McDonough with 10 digs. McDonough contributed with a game-high 15 kills in addition to her defensive efforts.
Fontbonne will be in a re-match with St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Wednesday, as the Eutectics host at St. Louis University High School, their temporary home, at 7pm. This time the Griffins hope to revenge their home opening loss with Krista Beyer back in the lineup.
