Women's Volleyball overtakes RM-Springfield
St. Louis, Mo. - The Griffins were ready to make some noise tonight as they took on Robert Morris Springfield. Fontbonne won the match 25-10, 25-13 and 25-19. The Griffins are inching closer to a .500 record, currently sitting at 5-8 overall.
Krista Beyer was big in the back row for the Griffins with 15 receptions and no errors. Maddie Stadler's 19 digs was the game high and Lynsey Wehrenberg and Mandy DeWitt split setting duties, compiling 11 assists each.
The Griffins switched up their lineup during the third set, making a much closer game than the first two sets. No players from either team recorded double digit kills. The team's average hitting percentage was .194. Fontbonne amassed 14 service aces, their second highest of the season.
Freshman Rachel McCulley saw more playing time, showing off her defensive skills as the Griffins switched in McCulley as libero for Stadler. She totaled 8 solid digs and recorded zero service errors on 11 attempts with three aces, the best on the night.
The Griffins take on Spalding University on Friday at home at 7pm followed by MacMurray and Blackburn on Saturday at 11am and 1pm at Principia College in Elsah, Ill.
