Eureka, Ill. - Fontbonne University women's volleyball secures two wins over the weekend, for a total of five wins in their last six games. Earlier last week the Griffins defeated Blackburn College and Iowa Wesleyan University 3-1, but fell to Westminster College 1-3.
On Saturday, the Griffins trounced over Eureka College and Robert Morris University (RMU) of Peoria 3-0 each.
Maddie Stadler led the team defensively with 30 digs on the day. Mandy DeWitt and Lynsey Wehrenberg set up the attack with 21 and 22 assists respectively. Kersten McDonough totaled 15 kills at the net against Eureka while Bailey Benes recorded six kills against RMU.
The Griffins' main points of attack were well behind the net. Fontbonne recorded 13 service aces against Eureka and 19 against RMU. Stadler recorded six against Eureka and senior Krista Beyer tallied five against RMU.
Fontbonne leads the SLIAC in total service aces and aces per set. The Griffins have 193 total aces with Spalding University in second with 159 aces. Stadler is second onthe conference leaderboard in total service aces and service aces for set.
Fontbonne looks for redemption this Tuesday, October 20th as they host Lincoln Christian University at 6pm.
