Eureka, Ill. - Fontbonne University women's volleyball overcame a 1-1 tie tonight to take down Eureka College 3-1. The win snaps a five-game losing streak for the Griffins who are now 3-7 in conference play. Fontbonne returns to St. Louis to take on MacMurray and Spalding in a SLIAC quad on their beautiful Clayton campus. Eureka will also be in town as the fourth team.
Fontbonne seniors led the way tonight as Kersten McDonough led the way with 18 kills, Mariana Rogers tallied 24 digs in the back row, Lynsey Wehrenberg notched 33 assists and Alli Brown recorded six block assists. Brown also finished with 11 kills on 18 attempts for a .500 average. Sophomore Kristina Eason was the only other Griffin with double digit kills as she finished the game with 12.
The Griffins committed just two serve reception errors, a significant improvement from last weekend. Winning the first set 25-13, the Griffins were edged in set two 24-26 but bounced back to win 25-18 in the third set. Stearing away from a five-set match the Griffins won set four after a long rally 30-28.
