Women's Volleyball breaks multiple records in season-ending win at Iowa Wesleyan
Mount Pleasant, Iowa - Fontbonne University women's volleyball came back to beat Iowa Wesleyan 3-1 after suffering a first-set loss. The Griffins finished their 2016 season with a 13-16 overall record and 8-10 conference record, but not before breaking and setting multiple records in their final contest.
Senior Kersten McDonough needed just three kills to break Fontbonne's all-time career kills record. The Pacific, Mo. native tallied 20 in the win, setting the new mark to 1,388 kills over just three seasons. Earlier this year the outside hitter became Fontbonne's all-time attacker and finishes with a new career total attacks mark of 3,942 attacks.
Seniors Alli Brown and Holly Richter were battling each other for the single season block assist record. Richter broke the record last Friday at home against Illinois College but Brown had one more coming into tonight's game. Brown notched four block assists and Richter two solo blocks and five block assists as both now own the record of 86 block assists in a single season.
Sophomore Kristina Eason also set a new single season mark tonight in aces. The outside hitter recorded three aces in the game and broke last year's mark set by libero Maddie Stadler. Eason's new single season service aces is set at 51 aces.
Earlier in the year, senior setter Lynsey Wehrenberg became just the second Griffin to achieve 2,000 career assists and 1,000 career digs. Tonight she became fourth all-time at Fontbonne in career assists, on the same play in which McDonough broke the career kills record. Wehrenberg recorded 27, for a total 2,109 assists over her four-year career.

Senior Mariana Rogers recorded a career-high 27 digs in the win. Five difference Griffins recorded double digit digs. Brown hit .385 while Richter aided on the opposite side of the net with seven blocks.
Fontbonne will lose Bailey Benes, Brown, McDonough, Richter, Rogers and Wehrenberg to graduation.
