Women's Volleyball Falls To Illinois College and Earlham At The IC Tournament
JACKSONVILLE, Ill.— The Fontbonne University women’s volleyball team dropped its first two games of the Illinois College Tournament as the Griffins fell in straight sets against the Lady Blues (16-25, 20-25, 18-25) and against Earlham (20-25, 22-25, 23-25).

The Griffins (0-2), finished with 30 kills and a .067 hitting percentage against the Lady Blues (1-0). Leading the way was junior transfer Victoria Curtice as she led with a team-high nine kills and .353 hitting percentage.
Megan McKenzie slammed home seven, while Olivia Tallo and Kristina Eason contributed four each. Both Megan Schaller and Abby Grumich dished out 13 assists each, while the defense stood out with its combined 64 digs.
Sarah Borgerding concluded with a game-high 20 digs, while Eason and Schaller added 13 and 10 respectively.
Illinois College, meanwhile, ended the night with 39 digs and saw Alli Pankey, Rebecca Shields and Maddie Ramsey finish with 10 kills each. Setter Elizabeth Ganley totaled 34 assists and tied Madie Budd with 17 digs.
In the first set, the Griffins tied it up at 8-8 after a kill from Eason and a service ace from Borgerding. Later, another kill from Eason made it 13-10, however, it was all Lady Blues the rest of the way, closing out the set on a 12-6 run to take the opener, 25-16.
In the second set, it was a back-and-forth battle throughout with a kill from Emma Seiz cutting the deficit down to 11-10. The two teams went point-for-point until Curtice tied the game at 17-17 with a kill.
However, a 6-0 response by IC put them out in front at 23-17. Fontbonne tried to battle back with a quick 3-0 response, but a kill from MacKenzie Heinz and a service ace from Kori Hayes gave the Lady Blues a 25-20 win.
FBU played its best set of the night with 14 kills and a .136 hitting percentage. IC though fared a little better with its 12 kills and .205 hitting percentage.
In the third frame, Fontbonne opened up with a 7-5 lead on a service error from Rebecca Shields. The Lady Blues went on to regain the lead at 12-9 on a Griffins set error. IC expanded its lead out to 16-11 and they were able to go on for the 25-18 set and match win.
