Women's Volleyball Snaps Its Five-Game Slide With A Win Over Blackburn
CARLINVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University women’s volleyball team snapped its five-game slide with a four-set (25-20, 14-25, 25-21, 25-16) win against Blackburn on Wednesday night.
CARLINVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University women's volleyball team snapped its five-game slide with a four-set (25-20, 14-25, 25-21, 25-16) win against Blackburn on Wednesday night.
The Griffins (3-9; 3-6 SLIAC), totaled 27 kills and owned a season-high .213 hitting percentage. Victoria Curtice led with seven kills, while Maura Rabun had six and a .385 hitting percentage. Megan McKenzie and Kristina Eason had five kills each, while McKenzie tied Rabun in hitting percentage.
Defensively, the Griffins had 31 digs and were paced by Sarah Borgerding's and Eason's seven.
Blackburn (3-10; 3-5 SLIAC), ended with 39 kills, a .147 hitting percentage, and 70 digs. However, the team struggled defensively on service with 11 errors.
Kaitlyn Wiegand compiled a match-high 10 kills. Kendall Burleyson dished out a match-high 28 assists, while Kendall Knop contributed 21 digs.
The Griffins return to the court on the road next Wednesday against rival Webster. First-service goes up at 7 p.m.
