ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Things were looking good for the Fontbonne University women's volleyball team after winning the first two sets, however, the St. Mary-of-the-Woods Pomeroys rallied to win the final three for the win (25-21, 25-20, 17-25, 15-25, 8-15).

Setter Katelyn Cotter handed out a match-high 50 assists, while Pamela Dorman led them on the defensive side of the net with 20 digs.
In the first, after a kill from Mack put the Pomeroys down 15-111, the Griffins rattled off a 4-0 run as a kill from Karsyn Kulick made it 19-11. SMWC got it down to 23-21, but an attack error and a kill from Eason gave Fontbonne the opening 25-21 win.
It was a back-and-forth start to the second with the two teams tied it up at 13-13. Then, another 4-0 run by the Griffins gave them a 17-13 lead. The team never relinquished its lead the rest of the way as a block assist from Megan McKenzie and Emma Seiz secured the 25-20 victory.
Trailing 10-6 in the third, the Griffins got back on track after tying it up 10-10 on consecutive kills from Rabun.
SMWC put some distance between themselves and the Griffins by taking a 20-14 lead on a Fontbonne ball handling error. The Pomeroys were able to stay alive and force a fourth set after the 25-17 win.
In the fourth, the Pomeroys opened with a 9-3 lead and that forced Fontbonne to take a timeout. With SMWC totaling 17 kills and a .333 hitting percentage in the set, they were able to go on for the 25-15 victory.
In the race to eight in the fifth, the Pomeroys got there first at 8-3 on a McKenzi Kumpf kill. Fontbonne trimmed it down to 13-8 on Kulick's kill, but that'd be as close as they'd get with SMWC going on for the 15-8 match win.
The Griffins conclude the 2018 season at 9-16 overall and 8-10 in conference play.
