Women's Wrestling Displays Strong Showing At Lindenwood Open
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women’s wrestling team had a strong showing today at the Lindenwood Open.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University women's wrestling team had a strong showing today at the Lindenwood Open.
Vanessa Guevara competed at 123 pounds and opened with her first win on the season picking up an impressive 10-8 decision win over Mckenna Deckelman.
Guevara then faced Cayden Condit (Lindenwood), but fell by technical fall. In her next match, Guevara took on Sabrina King from Central Methodist and King won by fall.
At 130, Rider Marks faced Serenity Thomas (University of Toledo) and Thomas won by technical fall. Marks faced Emily Ebsen (Lindenwood) in her next contest and won by fall for her first victory on the season.
She then took Jasmine Ward (Lindenwood) for a spot in the top four and Ward went on to win by fall at 2:17.
Kayla Davis wrestled at 143 pounds and in her first contest she fell by fall at 3:28 against Jessica Miller (Avila). After a bye, Davis faced Karstin Hollen (Chadron State) and Hollen by fall at 2:10.
At 170, Kai Poux faced Jacklyn Smith (Sacred Heart) and Smith advanced by decision. Poux then went on to pick up her first win on the season after winning by fall at 1:40 over Lynexa Adams (Indian Hills). However, McKenzie Cook won by fall over Poux in her final match.
