Men's Cross Country Picked To Finish Seventh In SLIAC Preseason Poll
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the 2019 Men’s Cross Country Preseason Poll and the Griffins enter the year at No. 7.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the 2019 Men's Cross Country Preseason Poll and the Griffins enter the year at No. 7.
Greenville, the reigning SLIAC Champion, are picked to finish first with 67 total points and seven first-place votes. Webster follows in second with 64 points and two second-place votes, while Spalding (60), Principia (53), Iowa Wesleyan (42), and Blackburn (32), round out the top six.
This year, the Griffins will bring back the duo of Austin Joyce and Juwan Lee. Joyce, a St. Charles, Mo., native, set a personal-record at the SLIAC Championships in the 8K where he ran his way to a time of 30:00.7 for 29th place.
Lee, meanwhile, set his personal-record in the 8K at the Brissman-Lundeen Cross Country Invite where he finished at 33:57.5. The team will also welcome newcomers Anh Nguyen and Domenick Blanchette to the roster as they'll look to make an impact this season.
The team will begin its season on September 6th at the Prairie Star Invite in Springfield, Ill.
