Women's Cross Country Picked Sixth In SLIAC Preseason Poll
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the 2019 Women’s Cross Country Preseason Poll and the Griffins are picked to finish sixth.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the 2019 Women's Cross Country Preseason Poll and the Griffins are picked to finish sixth.
Webster holds the top spot with 71 points and seven first-place votes. Greenville follows in second at 62 points and one first-place vote, while Principia comes in third with 56 points and one first-place vote. Spalding (55) and Iowa Wesleyan (43) round out the top-five.
This year, the Griffins bring back the likes of Emily Bay, Desiree Brooks, and Tara Weiskopf-Kuehn to the roster. Brooks, a St. Louis, Mo., native, led the Griffins at the SLIAC Championships with a 25th place finish after setting a personal-record time in the 6K at 26:49.5.
Bay, a Union, Mo., native, also returns for her senior season and she'll be looking to build a successful 2018 campaign. Tara Weiskopf-Kuehn, meanwhile, also set a personal-record at the SLIAC Championships with a time of 37:33.8.
The team will also look to Taylor Aurand, Tamya Dixon, Anna Takano, and Patience Vandermierden to make an impact in 2019.
The Griffins first meet will be on September 6th at the Prairie Star Invite in Springfield, Ill.
