In 1994, Fontbonne University Athletic Department instituted the first women’s softball team.  Diana Pinkley Reynolds has the honor of pitching the first game of that first season. She pitched in 24 games that year, starting in 22 of them. She won 13 of those games, with one save and an ERA of 1.23.  As a sophomore, Diana pitched in 28 complete games of the 32 played, winning 22, and carrying an ERA of .85. That ERA was outstanding enough to find her fifth in the nation in NCAA Division III.

Her junior year Diana won 12 games, 1 save, and had an ERA of 1.67, winning her last eight starts. With additional pitchers coming on board her senior year, Diana won eight games with an ERA of 1.64, played first base while batting .418, and was the emergency catcher when injuries to team mates required it. This all lead to a four year record of 55 wins, 70 complete games, 4 saves, and a cumulative ERA of 1.26.

Diana was a four time All-Conference first team selection, and eleven times was chosen conference Player of the Week. She has also pitched in two women’s Class A ASA National Championships (1995 & 1997), and pitched against the USA Olympic team in 1996. She did not allow a base runner during the latter game. Without a doubt, Diana must be considered one of the premier players in the history of the SLIAC conference.

Diana married Fontbonne alumna and baseball player Jack Reynolds in 2000. The two have two sons, Jack and Jake. Diana was inducted into the SLIAC Hall of Fame in 2015.
