Bio

Heger was a defensive specialist on the Griffins volleyball team from 2000-2003. Heger led her team in digs in each of her four seasons. She earned SLIAC First-Team All-Conference honors during her junior year and then in the first season it was awarded, Heger was named SLIAC Defensive Player of the Year in her senior year. Following her senior season, Heger was the Griffins all-time career leader in digs. She is currently second all-time in career digs as her total was recently passed.

During her four years at Fontbonne, Heger's team won the SLIAC regular season championship in each one of those seasons. Heger also led her team to qualify for the NCAA Division III National Volleyball Tournament in each of the four seasons. In her junior year, Heger's team won a first round game in the NCAA Tournament.

Heger currently teaches at Marian Middle School, a fifth through eighth grade middle school for girls, purposefully targeting an economically challenged population to break the cycle of poverty through education.  She coaches seventh and eighth grade volleyball there. Sarah is a Sister of St. Joseph, a vocation she realized during her time at Fontbonne.
