Rogers, Schocker named SLIAC Players of the Week
Women's Tennis senior Mariana Rogers and baseball junior Ryan Schocker took home the honors for the Griffins this week.
St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne University Athletics had two student-athletes garner St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week honors this week.
Senior Mariana Rogers earned the honor in women's tennis after winning all four No. 1-singles matches last week. The Mundster, Ind. native also won three of four doubles matches in the top slot. In conference play on the week, Fontbonne defeated Greenville 5-4, Blackburn 9-0 and fell to Westminster 5-4. The sweep of Blackburn is believed to be the first conference shutout in the history of Fontbonne women's tennis.
Junior Ryan Schocker is this week's baseball Hitter of the Week. Schocker went 13-for-25 over the six-game week for the Griffins as he tallied a .520 batting average. The first baseman recorded 13 runs batted in, two home runs. Schocker recorded a hit in all six games and drove in at least one run in five of the games. In a win over MacMurray he tallied four hits and hit a grand slam in the Griffins' 18-8 8-inning victory over Spalding on Sunday. Fontbonne scored 43 runs as they went 2-4 on the week.
