Fontbonne Sprint Football Names Michael Vassil As New Offensive Coordinator And Line Coach
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Fontbonne University Sprint Football Head Coach Austin Bortle is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Vassil as the new Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Fontbonne University Sprint Football Head Coach Austin Bortle is pleased to announce the hiring of Michael Vassil as the new Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach.
"Throughout the interview process it became increasingly apparent that Coach Vassil would be a great addition to the Fontbonne Family," said Bortle. "I'm extremely excited to add him to our program. He will bring not only excitement and great direction to our offense but will more importantly be a great leader for our men off of the football field."
He continued, "I cannot wait to get him here on campus to help build the culture of our program for 2023 and beyond."
"I'm excited for the opportunity to become part of the Fontbonne University family," said Vassil. "During the interviewing phase, I was impressed by the professionalism of Coach Bortle along with the university members I met. I'm excited to get to work with the staff and the student-athletes as we continue to develop this program."
Coach Vassil joins Fontbonne after spending a year at Norwich University as the Offensive Line Coach. Prior to joining Norwich, Vassil spent time as the Offensive Line Coach for Mansfield University assisting in revamping their blocking scheme. He was also in charge of recruiting.
Coach Vassil has also spent time at Saint Augustine's University and Becker College, serving as the Offensive Coordinator and Line Coach at Becker where he was instrumental in playing calling and signaling along with running scout team during practice.
Coach Vassil was an offensive lineman at NC State University and graduated from Regis University in 2018.
