ORLANDO, Fla. – The Fontbonne University dance and cheer team competed at the 2023 College Classic National Championship.
Cheerleading:
This year marked the Fontbonne University Cheer Team's second year competing in university history. The cheer team finished in 5th place in the Co-Ed division. On both prelims and finals day, they were the only team to receive zero deductions for their routine. In addition, the cheer team received a special honor called the WOW Award for their innovative use of each team member throughout their routine. In the mascot category where crowd involvement, dance, use of props and staging, and more is scored by the judges Gideon received 5th place.
Dance:
This year marked the Fontbonne University Dance Team's third year competing in university history. The dance team took 2nd place in the Division III hip-hop category with less than a point away from first place with a score of 85.05. This is the highest scoring routine from the dance team in school history! This was the dance team's first year competing in the pom category. They placed 5th in the Division III pom category with a large placement and score increase from prelims to finals.
