ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University Esports team concluded their 2022-23 season with victories over St. Olaf College and Grand Valley State.
Week 4: Fontbonne loses 2-1 to Manchester University
- Game 1: Fontbonne started the game off strong claiming both dragons but was beaten out from team fights later into the game. Manchester University was able to claim the baron and end the game in 32 minutes. Notable player: Huy Van with 5 kills and 4 assists.
- Game 2: Fontbonne started the game off strong by claiming early dragons and getting a sizable gold lead. The game ended with a fight at baron pit where Huy Van and Tristian Flier teleported to the enemy's open nexus and ended the game in exciting fashion. Notable player: Jason Tran with 7 kills, 0 deaths, and 7 assists.
- Game 3: Fontbonne and Manchester played safe throughout most of the game with Fontbonne having a 3k gold lead going into the 18th minute. A rift herald fight ended up getting Fontbonne wiped as 5 and allowed Manchester University to finish the game from the snowball in the next 7 minutes. Notable player: Mylo Counts with 4 kills out of the team's 7.
Week 6: Fontbonne wins by forfeit against St. Olaf College
- This match was forfeited by St. Olaf State, therefore Fontbonne took the win.
Week 7: Fontbonne wins 2-0 Against Grand Valley State
- Game 1: Fontbonne took an early lead with Huy Van and Jason Tran swapping roles. The botlane of Huy and Dan Trieu were able to rack up 17 kills and snowball the game to a win in 31 minutes. Notable players: Huy Van with 15 kills and Dan Trieu with no deaths, and 14 assists.
- Game 2: Fontbonne started this game down on multiple dragons but was able to claw back with very good team fighting from the whole team. They were able to grab the baron and end the game in 34 minutes. Notable players: Huy Van with 11 kills and Jason Tran with 7 kills.
Teemo Cup Round 1: Fontbonne loses 2-0 to Rochester Institute of Technology
- Game 1: Fontbonne tried battling early game in the botside and getting Huy Van ahead in the laning phase. This worked, but RIT was able to snowball the top laner even harder with several jungle ganks. This resulted in the top side of RIT being able to open the whole map and end the game in 25 minutes with a total of 32 kills. Notable player: Huy Van with 7 of team's 13 kills.
- Game 2: The second game started even for Fontbonne, but unfortunately, they were outplayed in the later stage team fights where RIT was able to use their mass amount of knockups for the Yasuo to carry. Fontbonne fought hard to the last minute but were unsuccessful of holding off a final push at 27 minutes. Notable players: Tristan Flier with 7 assists and Huy Van with 7 kills.
