Griffins Struggle From The Floor Against Westminster

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University men's basketball team had its struggles from the floor in its 70-54 loss against Westminster on Wednesday night.
The Griffins (8-12; 6-7 SLIAC), shot a season-low 35.4 percent from the field and 8.3 percent from downtown. Luke DeLine led with a team-high 14 points on 6-of-15 shooting. Jalen Wadlington added 10 of his own.
Westminster (10-10; 9-4 SLIAC), shot 50.9 percent from the floor and held a 41-28 rebounding advantage. Kobe Wands led WC with 12 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Stu Hollandsworth and Collin Caywood contributed 11 and 10 points, respectively.
In the first, the Blue Jays came out clicking on offense going 6-of-9 from the field in the first four minutes to take a 14-0 lead on Kobe Wands' 3-pointer.
At the 7:25 mark, the Griffins trimmed the deficit to 25-17 on Carter Otwell's made jumper. However, the Blue Jays outscored Fontbonne 18-6 the rest of the way to own a 43-23 lead at halftime.
Fontbonne shot 33.3 percent in the first and missed all 11 3-pointer attempts. The Blue Jays, meanwhile, shot 53.1 percent.
In the second half, the Griffins trailed by 15 (48-33) after Wadlington made his jumper at 13:23. The Blue Jays, though got its advantage back out to 54-33 on Kobe Wands' jumper with 8:55 to go. Westminster held onto its double-digit lead the final eight minutes to go on for the 16-point win.
The team looks for a bounce back win and a split in the regular season series against Greenville on Saturday. Tip-off at 3 p.m.
