St. Louis, Mo. - After Washington University's offense lit up at the beginning of the game, Fontbonne threatened the Bears on their first march down the field in the 12th minute, but couldn't connect on the goal. WashU led 1-0 after an even first-half possession and shot that was just barely over Fontbonne keeper Jordan Alberici's reach.
The Bears opened up second-half scoring with their first of four goal in the 57th minute and their second goal in the ensuing minute and 42 seconds. WashU finished scoring with two goals in the final 19 minutes of play.
The Griffins were held to zero corner kick opportunities while WashU outshot Fontbonne 21-6. Alberici saved four on the nightcap with three saves in the first half.
Tonight's loss snapped a three-game winning streak for Fontbonne, taking their record to 6-10. WashU advanced to 10-2-3 on the year. The Griffins host Eureka College this Saturday at 1pm and will honor their outgoing seniors right before the game.
