Track And Field Finishes In Fifth At SLIAC Championship; Simms Named Newcomer Of The Year

On the women's side, Greenville took home the title with 281 points. Webster finished in second with 48, while Principia and Eureka rounded out the top four.
Alexa Lofgren had a big day winning the 400-meter with a time of 1:03.58 for an indoor personal record. Lofgren hit another PR in the 200-meter dash timing out at 27.90 for seventh place.
She competed in the long jump for the first time in her career during indoor season finishing with a mark of 4.78 m (15' 8.25") which is good enough for second place all-time.
Madelyn Huffstetter set a school record in the 60-meter dash finishing with a time of 8.09 for second place. She also competed in the 200-meter dash finishing in ninth place with a time of 28.15.
In the field events, Ogechi Okpara hit a PR in the shot put with a mark of 10.91 m (35' 9.5") which was good enough for fourth place. She also earned a sixth-place finish in the weight throw with a toss of 11.38 m (37' 4").
Jessica Ballard also collected a PR in the shot put finishing in eighth at 9.82 m (32' 2.75"). In the weight throw, she ended in 10th at 9.79 m (32' 1.5").
On the men's side, Greenville also won with 283.50 points. Webster finished in second with 84.5 points, while Principia and Spalding totaled 42 and 22 points, respectively.
Tyree Simms was named SLIAC Newcomer of the Year and set a new school record in the weight throw with a mark of 12.70 m (41' 8"). He also finished in second place in the shot put with a mark of 11.81 m (38' 9").
Jonathan Parker earned himself a PR time of 24.04 for eighth place good enough for second all-time in the 200. KeYonn Hall-Baker finished right behind him in ninth at 24.37 for a new PR.
In the 400, Hall-Baker hit a PR with a time of 55.19 for ninth place. Hall-Baker, Dominic Mueller, Gabriel Hoekel, and Bradley Forest finished in sixth in the 4x400 with a time of 3:53.87.
In the mile, Dominic Mueller finished in ninth timing out at 5:05.68. Hoekel, meanwhile, ran his way time a time of 5:16.85. In the 3000, Christopher Strange ended up in 14th at 11:16.25.
In the distance medley relay, the team of Hoekel, Ian Cordell, Strange, and Mueller finished with a time of 12:33.23 for fifth.
In the high jump, Hall-Baker cleared 1.73 m (5' 8") for fourth place, while in the long jump he finished he finished at 5.58 m (18' 3.75").
In the shot put, Mark Fisher finished in sixth at 10.07 m (33' 0.5"). Marc-Quan Daniels finished in seventh at 9.88 m (32' 5"). Spencer Parkinson earned a PR in the shot at 9.60 m (31' 6") for eighth place, while Tyler Green ended in 10th at 8.84 m (29' 0").
In the weight throw, Fisher ended in eight place at 11.26 m (36' 11.5"). Green ended up in ninth at 10.79 m (35' 5"), while Parkinson had a throw of 8.27 m (27' 1.75") for 11th. Cordell finished in 12th at 6.95 m (22' 9.75").
