Women's Golf places second at Fighting Scots Invite
Monmouth, Ill. - Fontbonne women's golf put on a good showing in their first outing of 2015-16. The Griffins opened their season at the Monmouth Fighting Scots Invitational at Gibson Woods Golf Course.
After a first day total of 376, the Griffins were on fire on day two, shooting 346, the lowest round of all teams at the tournament. Fontbonne finished second, just five shots behind host Monmouth.
Senior Gina Falvey shot 88 on day one and 83 on day two, and finished in fourth place. Fellow senior Kaylee Huelsing bested her day one total of 90 to 85 on her second round. Huelsing ended the 45-player tournament in sixth place.
Freshman Sammi Charpentier placed 14th in her college debut with rounds of 96 and 88 respectively. Freshman Hannah Householder (100, 95) tied for 22nd and junior Mary Seise finished 24th (106, 90).
Fontbonne will compete Sunday at the Midwest Conference Preview at Aldeen Golf Course in Rockford, Ill.
