Midwest Conference announces Preseason Coaches Poll
The Griffins have been tabbed to finish fourth at the MWC Championship this season. Fans can also catch up on the women's fall schedule.
St. Louis, Mo. - The Fontbonne University women's golf has been tabbed to finish fourth as announced today by the Midwest Conference in the 2016 Preseason Coaches Poll. The Griffins tied with Illinois College for 21 votes each.
Last year's MWC Champion Grinnell took the unanimous top spot with 36 votes. Grinnell has won the last three MWC Championships. Lake Forest and Monmouth each tallied 25 votes to tie for second.
Last season the Griffins finished in fifth place at the MWC Championship, just two strokes behind fourth place Lake Forest College. Fontbonne lost All-MWC performer Gina Falvey due to graduation but return Mary Seise, Hannah Householder, Sammi Charpentier and Nikki Hacking. The Griffins have added freshmen Samantha Boeving, Billie McKinley and Maddi Vandervort to the squad.
Fontbonne plans to open their fall season at the Lindenwood-Belleville Invite on September 6 at Stonewolf Golf Club in Fairview Heights, Ill. The Griffins will then travel to Monmouth in mid-September followed by an early October round in Kentucky at the University of Pikesville to get ready for the MWC Championship. The three-day Championship is once again at Aldeen Golf Club in Rockford, Ill. during the second weekend of October.
