Mount Pleasant, Iowa - Fontbonne women's soccer went out in style Saturday after defeating Iowa Wesleyan 12-0 to end 2015 play. The Griffins garnered a 9-9-1 overall record and went 5-3-1 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
Fontbonne senior Lyndsey Godier recorded the game-winning goal eight minutes into the game. Three minutes later freshman Leann Reiter netted her fifth goal of the season followed by two goals scored by senior Ashlynn Reiter. Freshman Hannah Andrzejewski put two in the back of the net to give Fontbonne a 6-0 halftime lead.
Fontbonne goalkeeper Tayler Pulvirenti came out of the goal for her final collegiate halftime. The senior scored her first-ever goal to open second-half play and backed it up with another golden nugget. The Griffins closed out the game with goals from seniors Paige Pfankuch (two) and (Alex Reiter) one. Iowa Wesleyan scored an own goal to give Fontbnne the shutout. Junior Savannah Davis filled in in goal for Pulvirenti.
Pulvirenti finished the season with a career-record 14 shutouts. Four-year Griffins Pfankuch and Godier now hold the top two Fontbonne career-starts record. Pfankuch has 77 starts as Godier recorded 76. The Griffins scored 40 goals on the season with Ashlynn Reiter leading the team with 14 points on six goals and two assists. Andrzejewski (five goals, two assists) and Pfankuch totaled 12 points (four goals, four assists) while Godier finished with 10 (four goals, two assists).
Fontbonne looks to replace nine players next season and will begin to reshape the program during the spring offseason.
