SLIAC Women's Tennis Tournament moved due to weather
St. Louis, Mo. - As of 8:30 a.m. Friday, April 21st, the opening round of the SLIAC women's tennis tournament has been moved indoors to the campus of Principia College in Elsah, Ill. The first matches of the day were set to begin at 9 a.m. at Principia High School in St. Louis.
Rain, which had originally moved out of the forecast for Friday, started coming down within the hour before the tournament was scheduled to begin.
Fontbonne will open the tournament as the No. 3-seed and will match up against No. 6-seeded Blackburn.
UPDATE: All matches on Friday wil lbe played at Principia College, splitting between their six outdoor courts and four indoor courts. The Griffins defeated Blackburn 6-0 to open the tournament, their first round win since at least the 2005 season. Fontbonne will next take on Webster at 3 p.m. The first round win ensure that Fontbonne will play in Saturday's game. If Fontbonne loses, they'll play at 2 p.m. at King's Point in Belleville, Ill. If the Griffins win, they will play at 4:30 p.m. at the same location, both indoors due to the weather.
