St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne University women's volleyball found some light in Memphis as the Griffins won their first game of the season 25-19, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-21 over Lyons College, and added their second win over Centenary later in the day.
Lyons couldn't get past the strength of Kersten McDonough at the net, even though they played 17 different players during the match. McDonough was everywhere, totaling 17 kills, four service aces and 10 digs during the game, proving her height isn't as big of a threat in the back row as opposing teams may assume.
Maddie Stadler also served up four aces while adding a game-high 18 digs. Krista Beyer returned from her foot injury with 12 digs.
In all, the Griffins stepped up their game, with season high digs (61) and service aces (10).
