Set Notes
Set 1: The Griffins had 15 kills and a .156 hitting percentage in the first. Kristen Kaempfe led with five kills, while Jadyn Fitzgerald and Hannah Gallagher had four.
Defensively, the Griffins were active with 20 digs led by Fitzgerald, Kaempfe, and Kiya Kolb having four each.
Set 2: The Griffins tied it in the second set 23-23, but consecutive kills from Kayla Dunican secured the 25-23 win for Spalding.
Fontbonne had 16 kills in the set and 28 more digs. Emma Pramik led with 10 digs, while Gallagher had five kills and eight digs.
Set 3: In the third, the Griffins fended off the Golden Eagles getting a kill from Fitzgerald for the 25-23 victory.
Fontbonne had a11 kills in the set led by Kaempfe with five. At the net, the Griffins had eight block assists with Payton Siebert, Jordan Harpel, and Kaempfe having two each.
Spalding struggled on the offensive side of the net with 10 kills and 11 errors for a negative -.022 hitting percentage.
Set 4: Fontbonne had its best set of the day with 13 kills and zero errors for a .481 hitting percentage. Gallagher led with five kills, while Siebert added three. Spalding's struggles continued with eight kills and nine errors for a negative -.029 hitting percentage.
Set 5: The Griffins were in control leading 14-10 in the fifth, but the Golden Eagles charged back taking a 15-14 advantage on Ella Clark's kill.
The two teams went point-for-point until Fontbonne finished it off on a kill from Gallagher and a Spalding attack error for the win.
