MONTEVALLO, Ala.—The Fontbonne University track and field teams competed on day one of the Montevallo Falcon Classic.
The quartet of Katie Gosser, Colleen Gosser, Emily Bay and Jaylah Jones had a busy afternoon competing in the Heptathlon.
In the first event, K. Gosser nearly set a personal-record in the 100-meter hurdles, closing out with a time of 19.91 for eighth. C. Gosser finished in 10th at 20.82, while Bay (20.87) and Jones (21.41), finished in 11th and 12th place.
The second event was the high jump and Bay led in seventh place with a clearance of 1.30 m. Jones and K. Gosser tied at 1.27 m, while C. Gosser ended up in 11th at 1.21 m.
In the shot put, Bay set a personal-record with a toss of 9.27 m for third place. K. Gosser hit a personal-record as well with a mark of 8.23 m, while Jones finished with a mark of 7.01 m. C. Gosser, meanwhile, hurled a throw of 6.39 m.
The final event on the day for the group was in the 200-meter dash. K. Gosser crossed the line at 28.49 for seventh place. Bay timed out in ninth at 30.57, while C. Gosser and Jones ran their way to a 31.14 and 31.39 time, respectively. C. Gosser also took part in the pole vault and cleared 2.15 m.
In the hammer throw, Sierra Moore had a toss of 28.63 m, which was good enough for eighth place and putting her fourth all-time in the record books.
She also competed in the discus throw and shined with a third place finish after closing out at 35.73 m, and that places her second all-time.
On the men's side, Jacob Dixon was the lone competitor in the long jump. He went to land on a mark of 4.61 m.
The teams will be right back at it tomorrow in the finale of the Falcon Classic.
