Katie Gosser Leads Griffins In Heptathlon At The Falcon Classic

The heptathlon finished up today on the women's side. The first event and fifth overall was the long jump. Emily Bay led with a mark of 4.16 m to finish in seventh place. Katie Gosser was right behind her at 3.96 m, while Colleen Gosser (3.62 m) and Jaylah Jones (3.56 m) ended up in ninth and 10th.
The sixth event was the javelin throw and Bay stood out with a personal-record toss of 26.98 m, finishing in second place. K. Gosser also hit a personal-record of 26.68 m, while Jones got in on the records with a personal-best of her own of 24.65 m. C. Gosser, meanwhile, ended with a toss of 14.76 m.
The final event was the 800-meter dash. K. Gosser closed out in second place with a time of 2:53.45. C. Gosser timed out three seconds behind her at 2:56.70, while Bay ran her way to a time of 3:01.96. Jones crossed the line in seventh at 3:18.57.
Overall, K. Gosser led the group overall with a fourth place finish as she totaled 2837 points. Bay ended up in sixth with 2680 points. Jones (2100) and C. Gosser (2073) finished out in seventh and eighth place.
In the 800-meter dash, Kayla Sheldon clocked out at 2:46.57 for 21st place. She also competed in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:12.71 for 29th. In the field events, Sierra Moore had another great day with a toss of 10.98 m for third place.
On the men's side, Jacob Dixon competed in the 1500-meter run and ended in 29th place with a time of 5:01.11.

The team will take next weekend off before heading over to Saint Louis University for the Billiken Invite starting on April 6th.
