Nov. 16, 2020 - SLIAC Spring Sport Update
The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Council of Presidents met on Thursday, November 9th to discuss and review the proposed 2021 spring sport schedules and championships for all 17 sports within the SLIAC. Following a substantive and thoughtful discussion about protocols and plans to utilize and implement the NCAA SSI and local health organization guidelines as a consistent benchmark for all conference and non-conference play, the President's Council unanimously approved the sports schedules and championships for the spring, 2021 semester.
Sept. 24, 2020 - SLIAC Pushes Back Start Of Winter Competition
ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Council of Presidents has announced the postponement of all SLIAC winter sports competitions until no sooner than January 1, 2021.
The President's Council felt it was an appropriate decision as many SLIAC campuses continue to discuss and research their institutional ability to safely operate athletic competition within the NCAA Sports Science Institute return to competition testing mandates.
The President's Council felt the additional time will provide the SLIAC conference members an opportunity to continue to develop plans on how to safely return to competition in January.
Aug. 21, 2020 - SLIAC Fall Sports Update - Postpone Outside Competition
The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) President's Council, after receiving and reviewing the latest information and document from the NCAA concerning the safe return to sport for fall - 2020, voted to postpone all fall sport athletic contests, competitions, scrimmages and other shared athletic activities against outside competition of any classification or nature. The athletic teams on the SLIAC campuses will continue to be able to have team workouts, weight training, practices, sport-specific athletic activities, scrimmages, and leadership development within their own respective campus environment.
Aug. 13, 2020 - SLIAC Requests Delay in Athletic Activities - AMENDED STATEMENT
The President's Council of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, following serious discussions, has requested all intercollegiate athletic-related competition to be delayed effective immediately on all SLIAC campuses. This delay includes all contests, scrimmages, and practices against outside competition. The reason for the delay emanates from the recent NCAA Board of Governors publication that caused considerable concern in the areas of insurance and testing for various intercollegiate sport activities. The SLIAC Presidents plan to immediately revisit the delay as soon as additional clarification and guidance are provided from the NCAA with respect to a safe return to intercollegiate sport for fall, 2020-21.
Aug. 5th, 2020 - Division III Presidents Council Cancels Fall Championships
NCAA Division III championships in fall sports for 2020-21 are canceled. With the health and safety of the division’s student-athletes, coaches, athletics administrators and communities as its priority, the Division III Presidents Council made the decision Wednesday to cancel the championships due to the COVID-19 pandemic and related administrative and financial challenges.
July 27th, 2020- SLIAC Announces Plans For Fall Sports
The President's Council of the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC), after much deliberation and discussion, has voted to postpone the 2020 fall competition in the team sports of volleyball and soccer and move both sports to a spring 2021 season.
