Haring, Stafford, And Raven Venegas Named To The SLIAC Women's Basketball All-Decade Team
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the All-Decade Women’s Basketball Team today and the Griffins saw the likes of Emily Haring, Rylee Stafford, and Raven Venegas earn the honor.
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) released the All-Decade Women's Basketball Team today and the Griffins saw the likes of Emily Haring, Rylee Stafford, and Raven Venegas earn the honor.
Haring was a three-time SLIAC All-Conference selectee, including being named the 2016-17 SLIAC Co-Player of the Year. She also got it done defensively being named twice to the SLIAC All-Defensive Team.
During that senior campaign, she averaged 8.8 points per game, shot 38.9 percent from the floor, 35.7 percent from beyond-the-arc, and 87.2 percent from the charity-stripe, all of which were career-highs.
At the point, she dished out a career and single-season record at Fontbonne 191 assists and pulled down a career-high 110 rebounds.
She's currently the all-time leader at Fontbonne and the SLIAC with 572 assists, while ranking third overall in NCAA Division III history. In 100 games, she averaged 7.7 points, a 36.7 field goal percentage, 363 rebounds, and 300 steals.
Stafford, a Jackson, Mo., native, is coming off a career season where she averaged a career-high 16.5 points, shot 40.6 percent from the floor, 35.1 percent from downtown, and 80.9 percent from the free throw line.
She also became the eighth player all-time to reach 1,000 career points at Fontbonne and has a chance to climb up to the top four this year. With the numbers that she put up Stafford was named SLIAC Player of the Year, earned All-Conference First Team honors, and was selected to the D3hoops.com All-Central Region Third Team.
In her career, she's seventh all-time in total points with 1,054. She's averaging 13.9 points per game and ranks fourth all-time with 177 3-pointers made.
Raven Venegas, a Racine, Wis., native, earned SLIAC All-Conference First Team honors last year where she averaged 12.0 points on a 54.1 field goal percentage in just 17 conference games. She also became the ninth player to eclipse 1,000 career points as she finishes with 1,011 in her career.
She finished out her time at Fontbonne as a three-time All-Conference honoree, the 2016-17 SLIAC Newcomer of the Year, and ranks fourth all-time at Fontbonne with 540 rebounds.
