ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Last week, The Fontbonne University Athletic Department took part in one of the most celebrated weeks in college athletics, NCAA D3 Week, which was from April 10-15.
Each year the student-athletes take time out of their busy schedules to show what it truly is like to be a D3 athlete, and how they are dedicated to balancing their education, service, campus involvement and competitive excellence through sports.
The week featured two events, Fontbonne Day and the induction of student-athletes into the Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma.
Fontbonne Day is Fontbonne University's annual day of service in the St. Louis community. As part of the occasion, the campus shuts down and the community is encouraged to take the day to participate in a campus wide initiative to serve our dear neighbors through a variety of direct service opportunities.
Service opportunities on Fontbonne Day can range from animal shelter, food pantries, community gardens, assisted living facilities and more.
The Fontbonne University's Athletic Department inducted 20 student-athletes into the Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma.
Chi Alpha Sigma, a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded in 1996 by then DePauw University head football coach Nick Mourouzis.
