Six Griffins Named CSC All-District
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Fontbonne University men's and women's team had six student-athletes being named to the 2023 College Sports Communicators All-District.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced December 19 (men) and December 20 (women).
Nicholas Mormino, a sophomore defender from O'Fallon, Mo. earned a spot in the SLIAC First Team All-Conference and SLIAC All-Academic. He started in 16 of 18 games played. He recorded two goals, four assists, and eight points.
Ian Steinkamp, a junior midfielder from Valley Park, Mo. was selected SLIAC All-Sportsmanship and SLIAC All-Academic. He started in 12 of 19 games played, and scored one goal, and one assist. He recorded three points.
Emma Anselm, a junior forward from St. Louis, Mo. was selected SLIAC First Team-All Conference. She started in 16 of 17 games played and leads the team with seven goals. She also had two assists on the season and recorded 16 points. Anselm is currently ranked sixth in the SLIAC with 46 shots, and seventh in shots on goal with 26.
Bianca Cortez-Perez, a senior midfielder from Fairmont City, Ill. tabbed SLIAC Third Team All-Conference and SLIAC All-Academic. She started in 15 of 17 games played, scored four goals, three assists and recorded 11 points on the season.
Katie Leeker, a junior midfielder from St. Louis, Mo. was named SLIAC First Team All-Conference and SLIAC All-Academic. She started in 15 of 17 games played. She scored one goal, one assist, and recorded 11 points.
Caitlyn Smith, a senior midfielder from Fenton, Mo. was named SLIAC First Team All-Conference and SLIAC All-Academic. She started in all 17 games played and leads the team in goals with seven. She also had seven assists on the season and recorded 21 points. Smith is currently ranked eighth in the SLIAC with five assists, and 10th in points with 17.
