Schocker hits first collegiate home run

St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne baseball was finally able to finish their fifth-inning 5-5 tie against Washington University that has been suspended since February 25th from the Rhodes Classic down in Mississippi. Washington U. ended the nine-inning, 32-day suspended game 8-6. Fontbonne freshman Ryan Schocker scored the only Griffin run on his solo shot over the left field fence. The home run was the first for Schocker in his college career.
The neighboring universities then competed in a regularly scheduled nine-inning contest following. The Bears held a 5-0 lead until Fontbonne got a run on the scoreboard in the eighth and ninth, ultimately falling 7-2. The Griffins have fallen to 8-9 on the year, but are looking to increase their 3-0 SLIAC mark into this weekend as they take on Principia Saturday at 1pm and MacMurray Sunday at 1pm. Both matchups are doubleheaders hosted by the Griffins in Shaw Park.
