Griffins sweep Elmhurst on cold Friday afternoon
Fontbonne prevailed in a back-and-forth game one of the doubleheader which started at 11am Friday. Leading 5-3, the Griffins erupted in the sixth inning for eight runs to earn their first run-ruled victory of the season. Cole Lankford and Levi Earnest with the wins.

St. Louis, Mo. - Fontbonne baseball won their first doubleheader of the season this afternoon, taking down Elmhurst college 10-7 and 13-3 in seven innings. The Griffins are now 3-9 on the season. The wins dropped Elmhurst below .500 as they are now 2-4 overall.
Game One
Brendan Beck got the start for the Griffins and left the game after five innings of work with a 5-1 lead. That lead was erased in the sixth inning after a passed ball and home runs earned Elmhurst five runs. The Griffins retaliated and scored five runs in the eighth for the victory.
Ryan Schocker singled down the left-field line for three RBI's including the game-winner. He went three-for-five with five RBI's. Ethan Boyer doubled and went three-for-five as well while also scoring three times.
Cole Lankford earned the win after pitching 3.1 innings. He is now 1-1 on the year.
Game Two
After trailing 3-0, Fontbonne scored four runs in the fourth to take the lead and hold on for the win. After leading by two, they erupted for eight runs in the sixth to earn their first run-ruled victory of the season.
In the fourth inning, Jonathan Hoevelmann tripled down the right field line. He would score on the same play after an error in right field, for the game-winning run.
Levi Earnest got the start and struck out four batters in his first win of the season.
On the Day
Ben Greenway was patient at the plate as he earned six walks and went two-for-three including a double. He scored four times as he averaged .667 on the day.
Patrick Shuff hit .625 as he went five-for-eight at the plate with three RBI's.
Michael Golich, Matt Tossick and Hoevelmann all hit .500.
