The Griffins (12-10; 4-1 SLIAC), scattered nine hits as Ryan Schocker and Gus Purschke had two each. Schocker went yard for the first time this season and scored three times, while Purschke tied Matt Tossick with two RBI.
On the bump, Michael Puckett, Jr., picked up his first win on the season after going 5.0 innings, allowing one run on six hits and striking out five. Out of the pen, Brian Wacha got the save.
Eureka (3-8-1; 0-4 SLIAC), totaled nine hits as well but left 15 runners on base. Braxten Ary and Grant Mullin tied with two hits apiece. On the bump, starter Gregory Cluskey pitched well but took the loss as he allowed six runs in 7.0 innings of work.
In the second, Schocker got things started with a leadoff solo homer to give them a 1-0 lead. In the third, the Red Devils tied the game on Jake Carter grounding into a double play. However, Ary, who led off with a double, scored on the play from third.
In the home half of the fourth, Schocker and Nick Kenny each were hit-by-pitch. After a ground-out and a strikeout, Tossick ripped a double to center and that gave Fontbonne a 3-1. Jonathan Hoevelmann followed with an RBI double to left.
The Griffins tacked on two more insurance runs in the eighth on Purschke's two RBI double to left-center. In the ninth, the Red Devils had the bases loaded with two outs, though Wacha got Sinople to strike out on a full count to secure the win.
Fontbonne returns to action on Monday at home against Blackburn. First-pitch is set for 2 p.m.
