How It Happened
The Thunder grabbed a 2-0 lead in the top of the first on Jake Roddy's two out two RBI single. However, that lead would be short-lived.
Back-to-back errors to start the game by the Thunder put Fontbonne on the board as Jonathan Hoevelmann raced around to score. Later in the inning, Matt Tossick tallied an RBI single of his own to score Gus Purschke, to make it a tie ball game.
In the second, the Griffins offense plated four runs on four hits. Tyler Chambliss led off with a single and moved up to third on Hoevelmann's double.
Chambliss went on to score on a passed ball to give them a 3-2 lead. Three batters later, Braeden Dobbs extended his hitting streak out to six with a double that plated Hoevelmann and Purschke. The team closed out the inning on an RBI single from Lance Chapman which put the Griffins well out in front, 6-2.
From there, the team tacked on three more in the fourth on RBI from Dobbs, Luke Summers and Chapman to make it a 9-2 contest.
The team went on to score one in the fifth and seventh, along with four in the eighth to cruise towards the seven-run win.
