Baseball at Rose-Hulman Preview

TERRE HAUTE, Ind.—The (RV) Fontbonne University baseball team looks for its fourth win in a row on Tuesday when they’ll take on Rose-Hulman on the road. First-pitch at 5 p.m. The contest against the Fightin’ Engineers will also be Coach Good’s 500th game at Fontbonne.

A Look At The Griffins

  • The Griffins swept past Robert Morris-Springfield last Friday after defeating the Eagles 15-5 (7 inn.) in game one and 19-7 (7 inn.) in game two.
  • In the two game set, the Griffins batted .394, totaling 26 hits, 34 runs scored, two homers and 29 RBI. On the bump, Luke Summers and Alex Phillips combined for two wins and 15 strikeouts.
  • On the year, the Griffins own a .302 batting average.
  • Jonathan Hoevelmann leads with a .458 clip, to go along with his 27 hits, 23 runs scored, and 19 stolen bases. He ranks eighth nationally in runs scored and first in stolen bases.
  • Braeden Dobbs is hitting .380 thus far and leads the Griffins in the RBI department with 18.
  • Lance Chapman has belted a team-high two homers and is hitting .368, while Gus Purschke (.360) and Jackson Penrod (.313) are both hitting over the .300 mark, and have combined for 25 RBI.
  • On the mound, the Griffins staff has compiled a 2.65 ERA.
  • Summers leads with a 0.50 ERA in 36.0 innings of work and ranks third nationally in strikeouts (55). He's also 5-0 on the year.
  • Phillips is 3-0 with a 1.46 ERA, while John Hughes and Mike Jacobson have two wins on the year.

 

A Look At The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers

  • The Fightin' Engineers picked up a split in its last time out after defeating DePauw 9-8 (11 inn.) in game, but fell in the nightcap 10-4.
  • On the season, Rose-Hulman has a team batting average of .294. They're led by Davis Robeson's .357 average and 15 hits.
  • Connor Helbling is tied with Robeson in hits (15) and RBI (seven).
  • On the mound, the staff has a 4.94 ERA in 102.0 innings pitched. Luke Buehler is 2-0 with a 0.54 ERA in 16.2 innings pitched and has struck out 18.
