After the Prairie Wolves tied it in the second, the Griffins answered in the bottom half scoring four runs on five hits with Purschke, Daniel Youngblood (two), and Braeden Dobbs each gaining at least one RBI.
Fontbonne added another in the third, but a run in the fourth, three in the fifth, and two more in the top of the sixth gave Nebraska Wesleyan the 7-6 lead.
In the bottom of the sixth, Youngblood stayed hot with a rope of a double to right scoring Purschke and Lane Smith, both of which singled earlier, to put Fontbonne back on top.
Nebraska Wesleyan added two more in the next half inning but Fontbonne put the game away in the bottom half. With the bases loaded, Youngblood ripped a line drive past the second baseman's glove and into the gap clearing the bases to give Fontbonne the 11-9 lead. Meixner added an RBI single of his own to make it 12-9.
After plating a run in the ninth, the Prairie Wolves had one on and two out with Mike Jacobson in to close it out. Kaleb Knox hit a double to right scoring John Hamiowitz and Knox tried to stretch it into a triple but the Griffins executed a perfect relay with Dobbs placing the tag on Knox at third to end the game.
