ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University baseball team dropped a pair of tough contests against Carthage on Saturday afternoon.

Carthage 2, Fontbonne 1 (12 inn.)
How It Happened
The scoring got started in the top of the first for Carthage with Bryce Prybylinski RBI double to bring home Colton Klein who reached base on a one out single.
In the third, the Griffins got the run back with Braeden Dobbs leading off with a double. He came on in to score on Thomas Purschke's RBI single.
It was a pitching dual the rest of the way with it being a 1-1 game up until the 12th. Austin Prybylinski led off with a double and he scored the game-winner on Ben Levicki's RBI single to center.
Fontbonne Leaders
- On the mound, Luke Summers went 7.1 innings, allowing one run and striking out 11. He needs just eight more strikeouts to become the all-time leader in career strikeouts in the SLIAC.
- Offensively, the Griffins scattered 10 hits.
- Lane Smith and Colby Shivers each led with two hits.
- Six other players had one hit.

How It Happened
Carthage scored five unanswered runs to lead heading into the bottom of the third. In the home half, the Griffins got three of those runs back with Tyler Chambliss, Thomas Purschke, and Braeden Dobbs each picking up an RBI.
However, Carthage added another run in the fourth and one more in the fifth to lead 7-3. In the sixth, Shivers got things started with a one out walk. Two batters later he scored on Mason Lewis' RBI single to left.
That'd be the final run for the Griffins, though with Carthage tacking on runs in the eighth and ninth for the five-run win.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Kaleb Schweigert led in the hit department going 2-for-3 with a run scored.
- Chambliss, Thomas Purschke, and Lewis had a hit and RBI each.
- Ryan Howell took the loss on the bump tossing 7.0 innings, allowing five, and sitting down six.
