How It Happened
It was a scoreless contest up until the fourth when Braeden Dobbs, Ty Kueper, and Tyler Chambliss each reached base on a hit-by-pitch, walk, and fielder's choice. Matt Manint followed with a sacrifice-fly to give Fontbonne a 1-0 lead.
That was more than enough for Summers who sat down 14 in a row at one point and carried a no-hitter into the seventh.
Fontbonne added two more in the fifth and Carter Lee belted his first home run in the sixth for the 4-0 final
Fontbonne Leaders
- Summers went the distance allowing just two hits and sitting down nine. He surpassed Jimi Keating from Spalding who held the record since 2018 where he totaled 335 strikeouts.
- His 343 strikeouts place him 16th all-time in NCAA Division III history.
- Summers now has 27 wins in his career needing just four more to break the SLIAC record held by Issac Behme from Webster (2012-15).
- The 7-8-9 hitters in Grant Staffen, Carter Lee, and Lane Smith combined to go 5-for-12 with one run scored and one RBI.
- Ty Kueper, Chambliss, and Manint each brought home an RBI.
- Daniel Youngblood finished with two hits.

How It Happened
The Griffins held a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third but the Blue Jays plated three runs to lead by one.
In the fourth, the Griffins had two on with two out and Daniel Youngblood came through with an RBI single to center plating Grant Staffen, who reached base on an error, tying the game up. Then, Dobbs doubled to left clearing the bases and putting Fontbonne back out in front, 5-3.
In the next half inning, Chambliss led off with a single and scored on Lee's second homer in as many games for the 7-3 advantage.
The Blue Jays, though narrowed the deficit down to 7-6 in the seventh after scoring three runs on five hits. However, starter Ryan Howell was able to get out of the inning and Jake Jump came out of the pen securing the save for the Fontbonne win.
Fontbonne Leaders
- Dobbs and Lee each contributed two hits and two RBI. Dobbs has reached safely in his last eight.
- Trey Kueper went 2-for-4.
- Youngblood extended his hit streak out to 17.
- Howell improved to 4-2 going 7.0 innings and striking out five.
- Jump's save was his second on the season after striking out two in 2.0 innings of work.
