Fontbonne Baseball Plates Season-High 20 Runs Against Iowa Wesleyan, Sets Program Record With 18 SLIAC Wins
MOUNT PLEASANT, Iowa.—The Fontbonne University baseball team dropped game three against the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers but the offense exploded for a season-high 20 runs in the shutout win over the Tigers to take the series. It’s the 18th win in conference play for the Griffins which is a program record.

How It Happened
The Tigers scored one in the second and another in the third to take a 2-0 lead. In the fourth, the Griffins cut that lead in half with Ty Kueper keeping the inning going with a two out single.
After advancing on a wild pitch, Kueper scored on Matt Manint's double to right to make it a 2-1 game. However, the Tigers added another run in the sixth leading by two. Fontbonne had the tying run on base in the seventh but the Tigers escaped the jam for the victory.

- Braeden Dobbs, Ty Kueper, Manint, and Carter Lee had one hit each.
- Nick Glaser went the distance in the loss allowing three runs and sitting down three.

How It Happened
The Griffins took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with Thomas Purschke hitting an RBI single to left scoring Daniel Youngblood.
In the third, Youngblood hit a one out double to right and didn't have to wait long to score with Dobbs trading places with a double of his own for the 2-0 lead.
In the fifth, the Griffins made it 5-0 with Purschke hitting a two RBI double and later scored on an error. Fontbonne went on to break the game wide open in the sixth and seventh innings scoring nine in the sixth and sixth more in the seventh for the run rule win.

- Purschke had his fourth three hit game on the year going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI.
- Youngblood finished 3-for-4 with a season-high four runs scored and three RBI.
- Dobbs went 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBI.
- Trey Kueper had two hits and scored a season-high three times.
- Carter Lee and Lane Smith had a hit and two RBI each.
- Eric Creech came off the bench with a bases clearing triple.
- Derek Morganthaler improved to 6-2 going 6.0 innings allowing no runs and sitting down five.
Up Next
The Griffins are back in action at home this Saturday and Sunday for a key seeding series in the upcoming SLIAC Tournament when they'll face Spalding. First-pitch on Saturday will be thrown at 1 p.m.
