ST. LOUIS, Mo.—Despite scattering a season-high 16 hits and belting three homers, the Fontbonne University baseball team dropped a tough 13-11 contest against Illinois College.

Game Breakdown
After IC took a 3-0 lead in the first, the Griffins got on the board in the bottom half of the second with Matt Manint hitting his first homer of the season out to left.
In the fourth, the Griffins broke the game open. Matt Helm got things started with a two out single and he scored on Thomas Purschke's first homer on the season.
Manint and Trey Kueper kept the line moving with back-to-back singles. Carter Lee dug in and hit an opposite field homer out to right giving Fontbonne a 6-3 lead. Helm added an RBI single in the fifth putting Fontbonne well out in front, 7-3.
However, the Blue Boys added a solo homer in the sixth and plated four in the seventh highlighted by Tyler Blum 3-run homer which put IC on top, 8-7.
The Griffins got the lead right back in the bottom of the inning with Purschke hitting a double to center allowing Daniel Youngblood and Braeden Dobbs to score. However, in the eighth the Blue Boys scored five runs on four hits to take a 13-9 lead.
Ty Kueper added a two out two RBI single in the bottom of the eighth putting Fontbonne down 13-11, however, the comeback was not to be with IC hanging on for the win.

The Griffins will now get ready for a trip to Auburndale, Fla., next week for six games. First-up is WPI on Sunday at 9:15 a.m.
