Fontbonne Baseball Win Streak Reaches Nine After Sweep Of Beavers
CARLINVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University baseball team extended its winning streak out to nine after a doubleheader sweep over Blackburn with the Griffins taking game one 16-8 and game two 12-4.

CARLINVILLE, Ill.—The Fontbonne University baseball team extended its winning streak out to nine after a doubleheader sweep over Blackburn with the Griffins taking game one 16-8 and game two 12-4.
Game 1 Breakdown
The Griffins once again got on the board early with a Beavers error proving costly later in the first as Reece Harris' RBI single brought home Thomas Purschke giving Fontbonne a 1-0 advantage.
In the second, the Griffins expanded off that lead. Colby Shivers led off with a single and came on to score on Matt Manint's RBI single.
Two batters later, Carter Lee brought Manint home on an RBI double of his own making it a 3-0 game. After a walk to Purschke, Daniel Youngblood stepped in and belted his first homer on the season giving Fontbonne a commanding 6-0 lead. Matt Helm added an RBI single scoring Dobbs putting Fontbonne on top, 7-0.
Blackburn got on the board in the bottom half of the inning, however, the Griffins tacked on five more runs in the third taking an 12-1 lead.
The Beavers scored four in the third trimming the deficit to 12-5. However, Fontbonne scored two in the fifth and two more in the ninth cruising to the eight-run win.

Game Two Breakdown
After the first the game was tied 1-1, but in the third the Griffins took a 2-1 lead on Braeden Dobbs' RBI double that scored Carter Lee, who led off with a single.
Fontbonne went on to score two in the fourth, another in the fifth, and three more in the sixth to own an 8-1 lead. It was smooth sailing for starter Gavin Kinworthy who allowed just one run on three hits over 7.0 innings and struck out eight in the 12-4 win.
