Fontbonne Baseball Combines For 34 Runs In Sweep Of Principia; Win Streak Reaches 12
ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University baseball team continued its winning ways on Saturday collecting its 12th straight win after a doubleheader sweep over Principia taking game one 16-2 (7 inn.) and game two 18-1 (7 inn.).

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The Fontbonne University baseball team continued its winning ways on Saturday collecting its 12th straight win after a doubleheader sweep over Principia taking game one 16-2 (7 inn.) and game two 18-1 (7 inn.).
Game 1 Breakdown
In the first inning, the Griffins took a 1-0 lead on back-to-back doubles from Thomas Purschke and Daniel Youngblood. After a ground out and a walk, the Griffins made it 2-0 on Reece Harris' RBI single that scored Youngblood.
Colby Shivers followed with an RBI double brining home Helm making it a 3-0 lead. Carter Lee earned a bases loaded walk later in the inning scoring Harris giving Fontbonne a commanding 4-0 advantage.
Fontbonne went on to score one in the second, four in the third, four in the fourth, and three in the sixth securing the 14-run win.

Game 2 Breakdown
The Griffins put the game away in the first with Youngblood belting his second on the season giving Fontbonne a 2-0 lead.
The Griffins went on to score five more runs in the inning taking a 7-0 lead. In the second, the Griffins got RBI from Helm, Eric Creech (two), and Johnson to extend the advantage out to 11-0. In the third, the Griffins made it 12-1 on Youngblood's second homer of the game and Trey Kueper tacked on an RBI single to center making it 13-1.
In the sixth, the Griffins tacked on five more runs with Davin Smith, Mason Lewis, and the inning was capped off by Jake Helland's first career home run for the 18-1 win.
